Roles & Services

Appointed by the Board of Supervisors, the county administrator is the chief administrative officer of the county and is responsible for the implementation and execution of policies established by the board. In addition to daily administrative duties, the county administrator is also responsible for the development of the annual budget, recommends service delivery and policy implementation, provides an operational framework under which county employees work, and ensures that all affairs of the county are carried out in an effective and responsible manner.

Purpose

Departments of Dickenson County are dedicated to achieving, under the leadership of the county administrator, the goals set forth by the Board of Supervisors: to provide efficient, effective, equitable services to our citizens and visitors.

• Develop financial plan to enhance the community by providing quality of life and a safe environment
• Invigorate economic viability while preserving natural resources and a tranquil lifestyle
• Maintain a reasonable tax structure by balancing needs with available resources
• Maintain the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to address capital expenditures for infrastructure and required services
• Promote accountable, responsive local government with efficiency and effectiveness
